This breeze-block patterned mural on the half-wall by @rmraffinity is still a work in progress, yet every choice in its design was made to create a physical space that contributes to the patients’ health and make them feel at ease.

Really happy to have my work “Empowerment”, included in this marvellous touring exhibition and to be among so many outstanding photographers. On now til January 2025, AS WE RISE: PHOTOGRAPHY FROM THE BLACK ATLANTIC is an exciting exhibition of photographs from African Diasporic culture. Organised by Aperture and curated by Elliott Ramsey, the exhibition showcases work by Black artists from Canada, United States, Great Britain, The Caribbean, and the African Continent.
The exhibition celebrates the expansive sensibility of the works in the Wedge Collection, Canada’s largest privately-owned collection committed to championing Black artists, established by Dr. Kenneth Montague in 1997. Centring the familial alongside the familiar, the exhibition embraces concepts of community, identity, and power, and recognizes the complex strength, beauty, vulnerability, and diversity of Black life. Wedge Collection, is organized by Aperture and curated by Elliott Ramsey.
The accompanying book, As We Rise: Photography from the Black Atlantic (Aperture, 2021), a 184-page catalogue and As We Rise: Sounds from the Black Atlantic (Aperture, 2023), a limited-edition vinyl record, both published by Aperture, are available to purchase in the Gallery Shop and through Saatchi Store Online. #aswerisephotographyfromtheblackatlantic #thewedgecollection

Welcome to the world…Saint Amari Kristoff Lawrence…light of our lives. First he was coming last week in August. Well that was after we thought he would come through for his mother’s birthday. When that didn’t happen we said well it’s his grandmother’s birthday… nope. So we say for sure is Independence Day…nope. Now we into September at this point so we say right is Uncle Ricardo birthday… nope. This lickle boy-child had other plans. And just like that without an eviction notice he blessed us with his presence on the 7th.

From the melancholy tunes of Johnny Cash to boogie icons Earth Wind & Fire, listen to the tunes that inspired contemporary artists Richard Rawlins and Lorna Hamilton-Brown in our latest ‘Sounds of the Studio’ playlist.

Richard’s work addresses the culture and politics of the Caribbean and Lorna is known as the ‘Banksy’ of the knitting world, subverting perceptions of knitting and deploying it as a means of activism. Their piece ‘46’ in our ‘Duos: The Art of Collaboration’ exhibition in Lewes is a response to Diane Abbott’s treatment in the House of Commons in March 2024, where she was ignored 46 times. The pair’s playlist is packed full of classics and will make you feel all kind of emotions from nostalgia to joy.
